Boomerang – On That UK Ting

So, here it is. UK Naija music made by the children of Nigerian immigrants.

When you decide to be a singer, to really tap into an identity… Be it ethnic, social etcetera, you do something. Something way more than I can explain.

Suffice it to say, when I was an 11 year old in the Ldn, just coming into my own, I had nothing to call mine musically. My father played Yoruba music, Soul, Reggae joints but as with any child, I couldn’t wait until dude turned them off.

I’m pleased for these children, those who’ll barely remember a time where their Nigerian other had no cultural rally point that they could relate to.

Peace.
